<p>Ausgezeichnet mit dem Adolf Grimme Preis.</p> <p>Der jüdische Antiquar Rabinovicz wartet bei einem Zwischenstopp von New York auf den Start seines Fluges nach Hamburg, wo er in einem Mordprozess aussagen soll. Obwohl die Maschine nicht ausgebucht ist, schenkt ihm jemand anonym ein wertvolles Buch, damit er seinen Platz einem anderen überlässt. Und dann ist da dieser geheimnisvolle Fremde, ein Deutscher, der ihn in ein Gespräch verwickelt, das bald um die Schwierigkeiten bei der Suche nach Wahrheit und Gerechtigkeit kreist.
